India-Korea Friendship Festival: Could BTS Be Coming to India?
Indian ARMYs have a new reason to pay attention to India–Korea cultural developments. In April 2026, India and the Republic of Korea announced plans to strengthen cultural exchanges, including the India–Korea Friendship Festival in India in 2028. The two countries also agreed to commemorate 2028–29 as the Year of India–ROK Friendship through cultural activities.
But there is one important point: the official announcement does not confirm that BTS will perform at the festival. So, for now, BTS coming to India remains something fans are watching for rather than an officially announced BTS concert.
What Is the India–Korea Friendship Festival?
The festival is part of the broader cultural relationship between India and South Korea. According to the official India–ROK Joint Strategic Vision, both countries want to strengthen cultural connections through exchanges and activities during 2026–2030.
The governments also agreed to mark 2028–29 as the Year of India–ROK Friendship, with a series of cultural activities. The official outcomes specifically mention that an India–Korea Friendship Festival will be organised in India in 2028.
For Indian K-pop fans, this naturally makes the upcoming period particularly interesting.
Could BTS Be Coming to India?
This is the question many Indian ARMYs are asking.
BTS has a huge international fanbase, including a large community of fans in India. Because the upcoming festival is designed to strengthen cultural connections between India and Korea, fans are naturally wondering whether major Korean artists could participate.
However, there is currently no official announcement from the Indian government confirming a BTS performance at the India–Korea Friendship Festival.
So there are two separate facts:
- India–Korea Friendship Festival in India: Officially announced.
- BTS performing at the festival: Not officially confirmed.
Keeping these two points separate is important when following BTS India news.
Why the Festival Matters to K-pop Fans
The India–Korea relationship is expanding beyond traditional diplomatic and economic cooperation. The Joint Strategic Vision includes cultural exchanges, creative industries, film cooperation and initiatives designed to increase awareness of each country's cultural heritage.
K-pop is already an important part of Korea's global cultural influence. For Indian fans, a major India–Korea cultural event could therefore become an important platform for Korean music and entertainment.
That does not automatically mean BTS will participate, but it gives fans an official cultural event to watch as plans develop.
BTS and the Growing K-pop Connection With India
BTS is not the only K-pop act with Indian fans. The wider K-pop community in India includes fans of many Korean groups and artists.
This growing interest has also created opportunities for K-pop-inspired fashion, jewellery, collectibles and fan accessories.
For fans who enjoy expressing their love for BTS through everyday fashion, accessories can be a simple way to add a little purple and K-pop style to their outfit.

What Indian ARMYs Should Watch Next
The most important thing is to follow official announcements rather than treating fan speculation as confirmation.
Watch for:
- Official India–Korea Friendship Festival announcements
- Venue and event details
- Korean artist participation announcements
- BTS/HYBE announcements
- Official ticketing information
- Any announcement specifically naming BTS
Until BTS or an authorised official source confirms an India performance, claims such as “BTS is definitely coming to India” should be treated as speculation.
